Update an LLS Book
Update an LLS Book
The information in this article applies to the following products:
- Logos Library System software version 2.0 and above
Overview
Updated versions of LLS books occasionally are available on new LLS book CD volumes or from the Logos Web site http://www.logos.com/. Updated book editions may contain corrections to the original material, new information that has become available since the original book was published, or additional features. If the older edition is available in your system and you want Logos to use the newer edition, you may have to direct Logos to where the book files you want it to use are located.
Instructions
Updated versions of LLS books are released on new LLS book CD volumes as the CDs are published. (Updates to Logos and the LLS book CD volumes are available from Customer Service at 1-800-87LOGOS at a minimal charge to help cover production and shipping costs.) If you have the new book CD and you’ve directed Logos to search your CD-ROM drive for your unlocked books, Logos will use the book files that are available from whatever CD is in the CD-ROM drive, so just load the new CD and run Logos.
Note:To see where Logos is searching for books, from the Tools menu click Rebuild Filemap....
If you have an older version of the book already located on your hard disk, you will need to copy the book files from the new CD to the same hard disk location to replace the older book files. First, load the new CD and run Logos. From the Tools menu, click Librarian.... Select the book and click Copy. Select the destination drive and directory or folder, then click OK. When the dialog box indicates there are existing files, click OK to replace them.
Occasionally, updated versions of LLS books are available to download from the Logos Web Site http://www.logos.com/. If the older version of the book is located on a CD in your CD-ROM drive and the newer version of the book is located on your hard disk, in most cases the Filemap directs Logos to search your hard disk for the book before searching the CD-ROM drive. When Logos finds the newer book files on the hard disk, it uses those files if it searched the hard disk before it searches the CD-ROM drive.
If the book already is located on your hard disk and you download an updated book, then download the newer book files to the same hard disk location (hard disk drive letter and folder or directory) and overwrite the existing book files.
