Direct your Computer System to Find the Logos System Files

The information in this article applies to the following products:

  • Logos Library System software version 2.0 and above

Overview

If you could run Logos previously but cannot run Logos now, it may be because you have moved the LRSYSTEM directory or folder or because the original hard disk drive letter or directory/folder was renamed after Logos was installed. You must redirect the Windows initialization file in the Windows directory of your computer system (for example, C:\WINDOWS\win.ini) where to look for your Logos system files.

Instructions

Locate the LRSYSTEM directory or folder in your system so that you know the hard disk drive letter to use. If you have renamed the LRSYSTEM directory and do not remember what the new name is, search for the Logos.map file. The map file should be located in the same directory as your Logos system files.

To redirect your computer system where to find the Logos system files, complete the following steps:

  1. Make a backup of your original Windows initialization file located in the Windows directory of your computer system, for example C:\WINDOWS\win.ini (where C: is your hard drive letter name). If you have problems editing the win.ini file and you have made a backup of the file, then you can restore your original file if necessary.

    From Windows 95/98/NT:
    Click Start and Programs, then Windows Explorer.
    Double-click the Windows folder to open the folder.
    Click the win.ini file to select it.
    From the Edit menu, click Copy.
    Click in the Windows folder file list and from the Edit menu, click Paste. The file Copy of WIN.INI should appear.

  2. Open the win.ini file for editing.

    From Windows 95/98/NT:
    Click Start and then Run.
    Type win.ini and click OK.

  3. From the Search menu, click Find....

  4. Type LRSYSTEMS and click Find Next. A section similar to this should appear:

    [LRSystems]
    System=C:\LRSYSTEM
    ProductCode0=111-11111-1111
    LLS=C:\LOGOS20\LOGOS.EXE

  5. Modify the System= statement so that the drive letter and filename where your Logos system files are located is correct. For example:
    System=F:\LRSYSTEM

  6. From the File menu, click Save.

If you now can run Logos successfully, then you can delete the Copy of WIN.INI backup file that you created in Step 1.
