Answer: Why Doesn't the Logos Unlock Assistant List All the LLS Books?

Summary

When you run Logos Unlock Assistant (UNLOCKER.EXE), you may be looking for a certain LLS book that isn't listed. When you select Show all unlocked books, the list may exclude certain LLS book titles that are unlocked in your system.

The Logos Unlock Assistant displays and unlocks only titles that can be sold and unlocked by Logos Research Systems, Inc. Logos does not have the rights and/or unlock privileges regarding materials developed and sold by other LLS Publishers. At this time, if you have Baker or Galaxie books for example, these books will not be listed.

The titles listed by the Logos Unlock Assistant are current as of the program's file date. If you are looking for very recent titles or if you have unlocked recent books from the Web site or from a new CD published after the UNLOCKER.EXE file date, then the title may not be included in the program's list of titles.  You can go to the Logos Web site http://www.logos.com to download and install the most recent Unlocker program.

Symptoms

Follow the instructions in the Workaround section of this article if:

• You cannot find the LLS book title that you want to unlock.
• All your unlocked titles do not appear in the Logos Unlock Assistant's Unlocked Books list.

Probable Cause

Titles may be missing from the Logos Unlock Assistant list if:

• Logos Research Systems, Inc. does not sell or unlock the book.
• The book is available on a CD that was published after the UNLOCKER.EXE program date.
• You downloaded a recently-published book that is not yet available on CD.

Resolution (or) Workaround

If a title is missing from the Locked Books list, the book may already be unlocked. Click Show all unlocked books to check for the title.

If the locked book files are available in your system but the title you want to unlock does not appear in the Locked Books list, run Logos. From the Tools menu, click Unlock Books and Collections. Click the Distributor box drop-down arrow and select the distributor if necessary. If the title is from another LLS publisher and it does not appear in the Books list, follow the publisher's unlocking instructions.

If the locked book title is distributed by Logos Research Systems, Inc. and you know that it is locked but it does not appear in your Locked Books list, then go to the Logos Web site at http://www.logos.com/products/update/ and click Logos Unlock Assistant to download the most recent version of the UNLOCKER.EXE program.  More recent versions of the Unlocker will include the most recent titles.

Note: If you click Update Catalog Assistant to download the UCATALOG.EXE program, the program will update your Logos catalog information as well as install the most recent version of UNLOCKER.EXE.

If an unlocked title is missing from the Unlocked Books list, check the Locked Books list. If the title appears in the Locked Books list, then your system does not recognize the book's unlock. See the TechResponse article "Troubleshoot When Your Unlocked Books Aren't Displayed."

To see all the unlocked titles that you have from all LLS publishers, for each CD run Logos and refer to the Library Browser. (If the books are available from more than one CD and you have one CD-ROM drive, you must load each CD in your CD-ROM drive and re-start Logos.)
