Understand and Use the Bible Target Window
The information in this article applies to the following products:
- Logos Library System software version 2.0 and above
Overview
Logos books usually are structured in one of two ways: versified or page-oriented. Versified books have an internal order of arrangement that correlates with other books with the same internal order or contextual references. A versified book window (for example, a Bible or Bible commentary) can be designated as the "Bible Target Window."
Designating a window as the Bible Target Window selects that Bible (or commentary) as the Bible to be used when you click Bible Reference Marks or certain hyperlinks.
Note: Fast-Start Workspaces set a Bible Target Window and also may open another Bible window which will be called the "primary" Bible window. The primary Bible window does not change because it's assumed that you want to keep your place in your primary Bible while you use the Bible target window to check cross-references and links.
Instructions
Note: If you do not select a Bible Target Window, the default is the most recently active Bible window.
To designate a window as the Bible Target Window, complete the following steps:
- Click anywhere inside the open versified book window.
The book window’s title bar will appear highlighted.
- From the View menu, click Bible Target Window. (Note that a Bible Target Window button on the book window toolbar also is available).
When you click a Reference Mark hotspot in another book, the target window book will go to the reference, regardless of what Bible you were most recently using.
For example, if you have three different Bibles open and the New King James Version is the Bible Target Window, and you open Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Dictionary and click a reference mark in the Bible dictionary, only the NKJV will go to the reference. Do not link the other Bible windows to the Bible Target Window if you want only the target window to go to the reference location.
Note: Only one Bible or Bible commentary may be selected as the target window. If you attempt to select another target window, that selection becomes the new target window. To have other open Bible windows go to the reference in unison, link the book windows. Click the Links button on the book window toolbar of each window and set the link to the same letter set, for example to Set A.
