Overview

Fast-Start workspaces are a Quick Start feature that that tailors your session for specific Bible study activities and products. The workspace is the selection and arrangement of open books, notes and search results on your screen. It can be compared with the books and tools that you would arrange on your desk before working on a study. A well-arranged workspace can greatly enhance how you work.

Based on the Logos Bible Reference Series or Scholar’s Library book collections, the Fast-Start workspace opens, arranges, links and sets the books and features that many customers will find useful to do the task at hand.

Three types of task-oriented workspaces are available:

  • Devotional - to practice a daily Bible devotional or to begin learning more about the Bible.
  • Bible Study - to study the Bible and use commentaries.
  • Original Language - to conduct in-depth Bible study based on the Bible’s language of origin.

Fast-Start workspaces simply are a starting place. You may want to use a Fast-Start workspace to help you start using Logos. You may want to use a Fast-Start workspace as a model for creating a new workspace and replace one book with another, change the placement of windows or make other modifications to customize a workspace for your particular needs. (Remember to save any workspace that you create or modify if you want to be able to use it again after you quit Logos.)

Who should use Fast-Start workspaces?

If you are a new Logos user, a novice to Bible study, or you want to conduct brief daily devotions, the Devotional workspace is designed for you. This workspace showcases three popular Logos tools: the note file, the Oswald Chambers daily devotional My Utmost for His Highest, and book window links with cross-references. You can use any collection in the Logos Bible Reference Series, the Scholar’s Library collection, or the King James Version of the Bible, My Utmost for His Highest daily devotional and The Treasury of Scripture Knowledge to use this workspace effectively.

If you are more familiar with Bible study and you want to do in-depth research and read commentaries, the Bible Study workspace is designed for you. This workspace is based on the King James Version of the Bible in which the Strong’s and TVM numbering systems are available and to which cross-references and commentaries are linked. You can use any collection in the Logos Bible Reference Series or the Scholar’s Library collection to use this workspace effectively. Your book collection will determine how many of the commentaries are available.

If you are a pastor, teacher or Biblical scholar or if you want to study the Bible according to the Greek and Hebrew word origination, the Original Language workspace is designed for you. This workspace showcases some of the more complex Logos features for researching word morphology and translations. You can use the Scholar’s Library collection to use this workspace effectively. If you have the Bible Reference Series - Deluxe with the Greek Core Pack and Hebrew Core Pack, you also can use the Original Language workspace effectively if you copy the active books from the various CD’s to your hard disk.
