Remove Logos From the Hard Disk Completely
Un-install Logos
The information in this article applies to the following products:
- Logos Library System software version 2.0 and above
Summary
Complete removal of Logos from the hard disk requires the deletion of the LOGOS20 and LRSYSTEM directories and files (where LOGOS20 and LRSYSTEM are the directories where you installed Logos) as well as the deletion of the Logos20.ini file from the WINDOWS directory and removal of the [LRSystems] section from the Win.ini file.
If you plan to re-install Logos and you are not simply updating Logos, complete removal of the existing Logos from your hard disk is recommended to prevent the potential for conflict between the new Logos files and the existing ones.
Warning: Before removing Logos, make sure to backup your Logos system files so that you can restore all your unlocked books when you re-install Logos.
Caution: Deletion of the LRSYSTEM directory may affect other Logos products. Problems may occur with Logos Bible Crosswords (LBCW), the One Minute Bible (OMB), or Logos Bible Atlas (LBA) programs. If problems occur, paths to link LBCW and OMB to Logos will have to be reset, and the LBA will need to be re-installed. If you have not installed other Logos-compatible products, you can ignore this caution.
Instructions
If you have installed other Logos-compatible products, make the following preparations before removing Logos from your hard disk:
- If you have installed the One Minute Bible (OMB), consider making a copy of C:\LRSYSTEM\omb.ini (where C: is your hard drive letter name and LRSYSTEM is the directory where you installed Logos). After you re-install Logos, run OMB and from the Edit menu select Toolbox to re-set your preferences with the new Logos location if necessary. If OMB will not run, you can restore your copy of the omb.ini file to the LRSYSTEM directory if you made a copy prior to re-installing Logos and then run OMB.
- If you have installed Logos Bible Crosswords (LBCW), consider making a backup copy of C:\LBCW (where C: is your hard drive letter name and LBCW is the directory where you installed the Bible crossword software). After you re-install Logos, run LBCW and double-click on a puzzle hint. If the Logos information does not appear, from the Edit menu select Preferences to re-set your Logos links in the Scripture Hints section. If your saved crosswords do not appear, you can restore your copy of the LBCW directory if you made a copy prior to re-installing Logos and then run LBCW.
- If you have installed the Logos Bible Atlas (LBA), locate your LBA backup or original software media so that you can re-install the software after you’ve removed Logos from your hard drive.
If you plan to re-install Logos, locate your LOGOS Backup Disk (or use a blank formatted 3.5-inch floppy disk to make a new backup). You will need a backup of your Logos system files to restore your book unlocks after you re-install Logos. If your Logos program still runs and you do not have a backup or you are not sure that your backup is current, run Logos and make a backup now. From the Tools menu, click Backup Logos System Files.... Change the drive letter and default file name if necessary, then click OK. See the TechResponse article "Re-install Logos with a LOGOS Backup Disk" for instructions to re-install Logos.
Note: The following instructions refer to the Logos installation program’s default directory names LOGOS20 and LRSYSTEM. If you installed Logos to directories of another name, use those directory names.
